v2.1 Launched

March 25th, 2009

We are pleased to announce the release of Drync Wine v2.1. Based on feedback from our Users, this release includes many of the most frequently requested features, as well as performance enhancements to the app and our back-end Search technology. Thank you for your input and patience.

Here are some noteworthy improvements you should see in v2.1:

  • Search is now 2-5x faster
  • Edit wine attributes in your Cellar
  • Faster rendering of all pages
  • Cellar filtering by any wine attribute or Note
  • Easier entry and reading of Notes
  • Choose a label image from your iPhoto Library
  • Many bug fixes

But we’re not done! In fact, we’re just getting started. Look for a major upgrade in the next month or so that will include more reviews, Cellar backup and sharing, more fields to track your collection, …

Again, we greatly appreciate your support and feedback. Keep it coming!

And please consider reviewing us, or updating your review, in the app store here.

    hello,

I have purchased the wine software called “Drync” yesterday, and I would like to give you some feedback, because I am very disappointed at what the program offers compared to what is claimed on the frontpage.

    * First of all, and most importantly, I cannot seem to find ANY Australian wines. Living in Australia, and Australia being an important wine-producing country, this immediately decreases the program’s use. I did a simple test on a few famous, and readily available Australian wines, but none was recognised. Even a search on “Margaret River”, one of Australia’s most famous wine regions, which produces hundreds of quality wines, returned nothing.

There seem to be problems with the interface as well:
    * When i took a photo of a winebottle label, and assigned it to a wine created in my quick notes, I could find no way to view this photo later on. Whenever I clicked on the photo, it would open my camera again in order to take a new photo…
    * There is no standard field available for a standard notion like variety?? Why not give people the possibility to choose for instance Pinot Noir or Chardonnay from a predefined list? Now I had to put it in my Tasting notes, which I would like to use for Tasting notes, and not Grape variety.
    * When I enter more then 2 lines in the tasting note, it will not fit in the “quick note” main screen for this wine anymore…it becomes an ugly thign with the text going over the brown background…

I would really like to know if you are going to address (at least some) of these problems, before giving a rating to your Program.

    Thanks for your reply,

    Hi Jeroen,
Sorry to hear you are disappointed! Much of our data is gleaned from US based sources, so that may account for some of the missing. We were also experiencing some issues with our search data, which could account for more. We’re releasing a new version (2.2) that allows users to add any wine not available in our database.

As for the interface issues, I think I need a bit more information. When you take a photo with quicknotes, do you see the photo you took? If so, when you add this note to your cellar, it should carry over a larger version of the photo to the cellar detail. Currently, you can choose varietal from a list when you are adding a wine to your cellar or editing any wine in your cellar. This feature is not available in quicknotes. As for the tasting notes in quicknotes, we’ll take a look at that issue. We’re likely going to discontinue Quicknotes in a later version and replace it with a more tightly integrated “add a wine” feature.

Again, Sorry to hear you are not enjoying Drync. Thanks for your feedback.

    Eric

When will V2.2 be released? We are Canadian and planning a trip to the Okanagan shortly. I’m assuming I will be running into the same problem as Jeroen (from Australia) and I am interested in purchasing your application, but if I have to enter most of my wine in quick notes, I will wait or find another application more suited for our wine regions.

    Thanks for your time,

    Leslie

Leslie - Drync Wine v2.2 has been in the App Store for a few months, and the coverage in the Okanagan region seems to be relatively good. You can download our Free app and try it out. Here’s the link…
